Our colleague and researcher, Akis Apostoliotis, participated in two important events focused on advancing local action to tackle energy poverty through collaboration, knowledge exchange, and practical solutions. During his contributions, he presented LOCATEE, our LIFE Programme-funded project, showcasing its latest progress, methodologies, and digital tools designed to support municipalities in developing more effective, data-driven, and inclusive approaches to addressing energy poverty.
On 24 June, he took part in the 2nd Local Workshop organised by the Municipality of Piraeus within the framework of LOCATEE project, bringing together representatives from local authorities, research organisations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and other stakeholders. The workshop provided an opportunity to discuss key challenges and opportunities related to energy poverty, energy efficiency renovations, and the role of municipalities in supporting vulnerable households through inclusive local policies.
On 25 June, the LOCATEE project was presented during the LIFE 2026 Info Day at the 13th International Conference on Sustainable Solid Waste Management. The presentation showcased the project’s latest activities, methodologies, and digital tools designed to support municipalities in developing more effective, data-driven, and inclusive approaches to addressing energy poverty.
The two events highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration between research, policy, and local communities in order to co-create practical solutions that contribute to local energy and climate action.
Through continued cooperation with municipalities, researchers, policymakers, and civil society organisations, our project remains committed to developing innovative solutions that support a fair, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition across Europe.
