Doctoral research presentation at the University of Piraeus: Exploring renewable energy communities in Italy

On 12 October 2026, the MSc in Technoeconomics of Energy and Environment at the University of Piraeus hosted an intermediate presentation of the doctoral research conducted by Antonio Fuso, PhD Candidate at the University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy. The presentation was attended by his supervisor, Professor Alessandro Rubino, as well as researchers from the Technoeconomics of Energy Systems Laboratory (TEESlab).

The doctoral research, entitled “Spatial Evidence on Renewable Energy Communities in Italian Municipalities”, explores the spatial dimension of renewable energy communities across Italian municipalities, contributing to the broader discussion on their role in the energy transition.

The research topic is closely aligned with TEESlab’s broader research interests in energy systems, particularly energy system modelling, energy policy analysis and techno-economic assessment.

The presentation provided an opportunity for TEESlab researchers and postgraduate students to engage in scientific discussion, exchange perspectives and explore the opportunities and challenges associated with renewable energy communities and local energy transitions.

Beyond the specific research topic, the event highlighted the importance of academic exchange in fostering scientific dialogue, connecting postgraduate education with ongoing research and strengthening engagement with the international research community.

We would like to thank Antonio Fuso and Professor Alessandro Rubino for their participation and contribution to this valuable academic exchange at the University of Piraeus.

We look forward to future opportunities for academic exchange and collaboration!
