ENCLUDE 6th General Assembly in Athens: Stronger together towards creating citizen-led transitions!

News

Last week our team organised and hosted the 6th General Assembly of the Horizon 2020 ENCLUDE project. The General Assembly meeting took place on the 23rd and 24th of May in Glyfada, Athens riviera, and aimed to dive into the progress of our activities during the last 6 months and the next steps as we move towards our project’s final event.

The first day of the meeting focused on presenting the specific findings of our work on the different manifestations of energy citizenship and the decarbonisation potential of different citizen-led transition pathways.

The ENCLUDE team presented their case study modelling key results, the ENCLUDE platform testing and showcased interlinkages between different Work Packages.

Our team presented the key results from our recently published report entitled “Decarbonisation impact of energy citizenship at the local level”, which expands and employs different modelling frameworks of the ENCLUDE modelling ensemble to extract insights regarding the decarbonisation potential of energy citizenship at the local level.

The second day of the General Assembly completed successfully with the ENCLUDE partners meeting with local policymakers and energy communities’ representatives to discuss how the Municipality of Athens can strengthen and scale diverse forms of citizen-led engagement towards climate neutrality. We engaged into meaningful discussions with the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, and local authorities’ representatives to explore how can we strengthen citizen engagement in the future and the existing barriers and drivers to the citizen engagement in Athens

During the two-day meeting the ENCLUDE partners explored the potential of decentralised solutions for policymakers and how to support further synergies and cooperation with energy communities and citizens towards a fair and inclusive energy transition.

Save the date for the ENCLUDE final event that will take place on 25th of September in Brussels! Stay tuned for more details about the agenda and the speakers!
