ENPOR Newsletter: 5th edition is here!

The Horizon 2020 ENPOR project published its 5th Newsletter, focusing on the project’s latest news and events..

This issue presents our scientific publication entitled “How to improve energy efficiency policies to address energy poverty? Literature and stakeholder insights for private rented housing in Europe” published at Elsevier’s Energy Research & Social Science journal and written by Dimitris Papantonis, Dimitra Tzani, Manon Burbidge, Dr. Vassilis Stavrakas, Stefan Bouzarovski, and Professor Dr. Alexandros Flamos, within the context of the project. The paper identifies structural factors that serve as barriers to, and solutions for, the implementation of energy efficiency policies in the private rented sector across Europe.

Some more key takeaways:

  • Update of the overview of academic and grey literature and suggested resultant framework of measures to tackle energy poverty in the Private Rented Sector (PRS). Since the first overview was published in 2020, the effects of COVID-19 on energy poverty have been better understood, however, this update comes in the midst of the energy crisis, exacerbated by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, of which the overall social impacts are unclear.
  • Registration at the International Energy Poverty Action Week 2023 that will take place on 20-24 February 2023. Policymakers, practitioners and experts from around the world for a series of discussions, workshops and actions come together to highlight the urgent need to find solutions to energy poverty amid the global climate crisis.
  • ENPOR Capacity building event series targeting stakeholders of actions and measures connected to energy poverty mitigation.
  • News from the energy poverty communities and initiatives.
