The 2nd General Assembly of the LIFE Programme-funded project “OBSERVE”, organised by the Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy (IEECP), took place on the 14th and 15th of January in Athens, Greece. The meeting brought together partners from 7 Member States with a shared goal: advancing the future of building-stock data across the European Union.
Over two days of intense discussions and working sessions, project partners reviewed progress, exchanged technical and strategic insights, and planned next steps, ensuring alignment with upcoming project milestones.
In particular, the General Assembly focused on several critical topics, including:
- Review of Year 1 progress and coordination towards forthcoming deliverables and milestones.
- Ways to further strengthen cooperation with national authorities on building-stock data management.
- Strategic approaches for stakeholders’ engagement, policy synthesis, and long–term sustainability.
Our colleagues, Dr. Vassilis Stavrakas, Sophia Theodoropoulou, and Chrysanthi Anagnostopoulou, actively contributed to the discussions, sharing key insights on:
- Identifying policymakers and stakeholders’ needs for building-stock data monitoring and governance frameworks.
- Analysing EU and national policy requirements (including EPBD-related reporting).
- Translating these needs into harmonised, interoperable dataset structures to support 6 Member States (Greece, Italy, Cyprus, France, Croatia, and Spain) in defining their building-stock data needs and developing national Building Stock Observatories (nBSOs).
The meeting concluded with constructive discussions and clear understanding on next steps. Many kudos to all partners for their teamwork and collaboration!
The OBSERVE project now moves forward into its next phase, with new research outputs. Stay tuned for what’s next in the upcoming months!
