The new LOCATEE project, funded by the European Commission’s LIFE Programme, has officially kicked-off! With an ambitious and dedicated team, we’re set to bring innovative solutions to local municipalities in tackling energy poverty!
LOCATEE aims to support local municipalities in tackling energy poverty by facilitating the renovation of private multi-apartment buildings for vulnerable residents. The project will provide a comprehensive toolkit to identify energy vulnerable households, match tailored interventions to their needs, and incorporate energy poverty alleviation activities into the long-term strategic frameworks of municipalities, such as Sustainable Energy & Climate Action Plans (SECAPs).
LOCATEE’s approach will be implemented in three pilot municipalities in Central, Southern and Southeastern Europe: Rumia (Poland), Torres Vedras (Portugal) and Piraeus (Greece), while ensuring scaling up the LOCATEE framework to 32 more municipalities and then to further regions and municipalities in Europe.
On November 8, IBS – Institute for Structural Research project’s coordinator, successfully hosted the kick-off meeting of our project in Warsaw, bringing together representatives from LOCATEE’s Consortium. During the meeting, partners established strategies and timelines, set clear objectives and key performance indicators and discussed next steps!
Dimitris Papantonis, showcased the anticipated contributions of our team to this impactful project. Our work will focus on laying the groundwork for regional and local strategy development, fostering a collaborative co-creation approach for the LOCATEE toolkit, and assessing the energy performance of pilot areas’ building stock through the DREEM model. In addition, TEESlab will be in direct collaboration with the Municipality of Piraeus to enhance methods for measuring and monitoring energy poverty at the local level.
We can’t wait to see where this project takes us, and we’re looking forward to sharing updates with you along the way. Stay tuned for milestones, achievements, and insights as we progress!
