The 2nd General Assembly (GA) of the H2020 ENCLUDE project that took place on 22-23 September 2022 at the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), was completed successfully!
ENLCUDE partners had the opportunity to meet in person for the first time and to discuss their role and key contributions to the project’s objectives.
Who is an “energy citizen”? The guiding question of the meeting was aimed at clarifying and strengthening the project’s overall vision of the energy citizen concept. During the meeting, the focus of the discussions was on better defining and conceptualizing the energy citizenship and its decarbonization potential.
Case Studies: In addition, the main results of the 68 case studies’ analysis on processes and factors affecting the emergence and consolidation of energy citizenship groups were compiled in a booklet and presented.
Modeling activities: A significant issue addressed was how to tie the outputs of the survey and case studies in order to operationalize the energy citizenship concept at multiple scales of policy and decision-making. Moreover, the discussions focused on how results from the case studies and insights on energy citizenship can be integrated into the ENCLUDE modeling ensemble.
Next steps: Finally, the upcoming activities of the ENCLUDE project were pointed out as well as the issue of how to achieve the most impact of the project’s outputs was further discussed.
The next steps of the project include the development of the Interactive Policy Platform, an Open Access and publicly available platform providing policymakers, citizens, and other stakeholders with useful insights regarding the conditions and the contexts within which energy citizenship can lead to high decarbonization. Another important next step during the future phase of the project is the assessment of the social and environmental impact of the ENCLUDE Academy, an online program for leadership development and civic engagement for decarbonization.
