This presentation sheds light on the energy transition dilemma of achieving decarbonisation in the residential sector in Greece. The DREEM model application analysed different “what if” scenarios to provide answers to whether Greece should invest in natural gas or electrification in order to achieve decarbonisation of the country’s residential building stock.

Based on the results, investing in electrification leads to lower ETS, fuel, and renovation costs, and, thus, lower total costs at both the household and the national level, in comparison to investing in natural gas as a transition fuel.
