This presentation examines the renewable energy sources capacity mixes that could enable the disengagement of Greece from natural gas use for power generation, while achieving cost-effective transformation of the power generation mix.
The study is based on the results from three simulation models, soft-linked in a stepwise manner, that are used to assess in an exploratory manner scenarios for combinations of photovoltaics and wind turbines in the generation portfolio. The analysis suggests that policymaking should think beyond “how many” RES, and assess technological mixes providing both environmental and economic benefits.
