Dimitris serves as a Research Associate at the Technoeconomics of Energy Systems Laboratory (TEESlab) at the University of Piraeus (UNIPI), where he actively contributes to European Commission (EC)-funded research projects.
His research focuses on energy use in buildings, with strong expertise in energy poverty, energy demand analysis, and energy management modeling. His work is particularly centered on advancing energy efficiency strategies and addressing energy poverty through data-driven and policy-oriented approaches that support a socially just energy transition.
Dimitris holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mechanical Engineering, with a specialization in Energy Engineering, from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He also holds a second M.Sc. degree in Power Generation and Administration from NTUA. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at UNIPI under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Alexandros Flamos.
His professional experience includes active participation in several EC-funded projects, including LOCATEE, RENOVERTY, FORTESIE, IAMCOMPACT, ENPOR, ENSMOV, all of which focus on key dimensions of the energy transition. He is also involved in the application and further development of the in-house Dynamic high-Resolution dEmand-sidE Management (DREEM) model, exploring a wide range of applications related to energy efficiency, energy poverty, and energy transition pathways.
To date, his research has resulted in multiple publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals. He has delivered more than 20 announcements at international scientific and policy conferences on topics such as energy transition, energy poverty, and energy systems modeling (e.g., IAMC, ECEMP, SDEWES).
