This video is the second one from a series of short videos developed in the context of the European Commission-funded Horizon 2020 project “ENCLUDE”. The video adds to the presentation of a series of different modelling applications involving a diverse set of energy system models and case studies across the European Union to quantify the decarbonisation impact of different manifestations of energy citizenship at the local, the regional, and the national levels.
In this video, we introduce the application of an agent-based grassroots innovation diffusion model (ANIMO) to delve into how social innovations of Collective Energy Initiatives– like energy communities and ecovillages- are further diffused and adopted by, and among, a network of individuals.
The study focuses on three (3) real-life cases:
- Cloughjordan Ecovillage, Ireland.
- EnergieC Midden-Delfland, The Netherlands.
- Belica Energy Community, North Macedonia.
By analysing these cases, the ANIMO model contributes to the identification of key drivers and barriers to scaling up Collective Energy Initiatives across Europe.
