Vassilis Stavrakas holds a Bachelor (B.Sc.) and a Master (M.Sc.) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) – (8.36/10 equivalent to first – 5% ranking according to academic performance). He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. under the supervision of Prof. Alexandros Flamos and is working as a Junior Research Scientist at University of Piraeus Research Center (UPRC) participating in the EC funded Horizon 2020 – Research and Innovation Framework Programmes “CARISMA” and “TRANSrisk”. He is also a teaching assistant (TA) at the University of Piraeus teaching Operational Research II, Engineering Economics and Techno-economics of Energy Systems. His research profile focuses on computer science and optimization methods, sustainable energy systems modeling and game theory. He has a computational research background and knowledge of different programming languages (C, C++, Python and Java) and engineering software, such as MatLab and Labview. So far, he has 3 publications in high impact international scientific Journals and several announcements at international conferences.
